Announcement of first Keynote Speaker

We are happy to announce that our first keynote speaker on Wednesday, September 10th will be Prof. (em.) Dr. M. Jischa, Honorary President of the German Chapter Club of Rome. The topic of his keynote will be “Technology drives civilisation dynamics – but do we have a target?”. This keynote will be publicly accessible.

Michael F. Jischa, born 1937 in Hamburg, studied Mechanical Engineering in Hamburg (Ingenieurschule) and Karlsruhe (TH, now KIT). PhD and “Habilitation” for Fluid Dynamics at TU Berlin, Associate Professor at Institute for Thermo- and Fluiddynamics Univ. Bochum, Full Professor for Fluiddynamics at Univ. Essen and finally Full Professor for Applied Mechanics at TU Clausthal. Visiting Professor at Universities in Haifa (Technion), Marseille, Shanghai and Gdansk (Danzig). Retired 2002.

Conference Theme: ICT for Energy Efficiency

The EnviroInfo 2014 is the 28th edition of the long standing and established international and interdisciplinary conference series on leading environmental information and communication technologies. Combining and shaping international activities in the field of applied informatics and environmental informatics in making the world a better place for living, the EnviroInfo conference series aims at presenting and discussing the latest state-of-the-art development on ICT and environmental related fields.

Under the supervision of the Carl von Ossietzky University, Oldenburg, the 28th EnviroInfo conference will discuss the special topics of ICT for energy efficiency as main conference theme as well as the whole range of cross-cutting topics in ICT and environmental sciences. As the EnviroInfo conference series strengthens the interdisciplinary activities in the fields of sustainable development, participants from industry, higher education and research institutes will be invited to exchange ideas and solutions for current and future problems.

Submission Instructions

Abstracts of at least two pages have to be submitted via the conference system latest 2nd of May 2014. Full papers (8 pages for conference papers, 6 pages for workshop papers) should be submitted camera ready latest 11th of July 2014. Guidelines and templates will be found on the conference webpage. Environmental Informatics Prize 2014 for Students

For the 12th time the Technical Committee „Informatics for Environmental Protection“ of the German Informatics Society will award the “Environmental Informatics Prize”. The prize is awarded for students’ works in the field of environmental informatics. Such work takes the form of projects undertaken either as part of a course or for a degree (excluding PhD) at an academic university or a university of applied sciences. The projects must demonstrate the contribution of methods and technologies of informatics to the solution of environmental problems or dissemination of information supporting sustainable development in general.

The winners will be invited to present their work at EnviroInfo 2014 – ICT for energy efficiency, the 28th International Conference on Informatics for Environmental Protection to be held in Oldenburg, Germany.
